“Thousands of people turned out for the first season of performances offered by the Foundation last year,” said Craig Mohre, President of The New Albany Community Foundation. “Guests loved the intimacy and beauty of the venue. They brought picnic baskets, blankets and chairs to enjoy quality performers in our stunning outdoor amphitheater. The feedback from guests of all ages and those who sponsored the programs was tremendous, so we are very much looking forward to offering even more opportunities to experience live music and film this summer.

Additionally, the third annual Amp Up the Arts benefit that raises funds to support amphitheater programming will feature powerhouse performances by Gavin DeGraw and Colbie Caillat. Past performers Leslie Odom, Jr. and Renée Elise Goldsberry both drew legions of fans who got to know them through their respective roles as Aaron Burr and Angelica Schuyler in the international Broadway sensation, Hamilton.

As GRAMMY® winners and nominees, DeGraw and Caillat will bring their soulful singer songwriter vibe to the Hinson Amphitheater on September 13 to perform Platinum hits including “Bubbly” by Caillat and “Chariot” and “I Don’t Want to Be” by DeGraw.

Amp Up the Arts tickets will go on sale on May 10th at 10:00 a.m. See newalbanyfoundation.org this Wednesday for details on sponsorships and how to purchase individual tickets and tables.

The Hinson Amphitheater was dedicated in fall 2021 and is a performance venue and community gathering space located in the heart of New Albany that provides an intimate audience experience featuring award-winning performers and films.

The Hinson Amphitheater was made possible through public and private partnerships in the same collaborative approach that led to the development of the Charlotte P. Kessler New Albany Branch Library, the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts and the Philip Heit Center for Healthy New Albany. Located at 170 E. Dublin-Granville Road, the amphitheater is situated along the Rose Run Park Corridor and is contiguous to the New Albany School campus.

Amp Up the Arts: A Benefit for the Charleen & Charles Hinson Amphitheater:

Featuring Gavin DeGraw & Colbie Caillat
Wednesday, September 13, 2023
Gates open and Dinner at 7:00 p.m., Performance at 8:00 p.m.
Ticket, table and sponsorship information at newalbanyfoundation.org.

Continuing the tradition established in 2021 when Leslie Odom, Jr. headlined the first Amp Up the Arts Benefit followed by the 2022 performance by Renée Elise Goldsberry, the Foundation has secured two extraordinary vocalists to perform at this year’s event, Gavin DeGraw & Colbie Caillat . The evening will include dinner and libations under the stars culminating in live performances from both artists.

GRAMMY® Award-nominated multiplatinum singer and songwriter Gavin DeGraw’s inimitable voice and soulful style boldly bloomed on his 2003 platinum-certified full-length debut, Chariot. It included the gold single “Follow Through,” as well as both platinum hits, “Chariot,” and “I Don’t Want To Be.” In 2008, his self-titled second album, Gavin DeGraw, bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top 200 powered by the platinum-selling single “In Love With a Girl.” 2011’s gold-certified Sweeter saw him return to the Top 10 as the single “Not Over You” went four times platinum. Meanwhile, his 2013 duet with Colbie Caillat, “We Both Know,” garnered a GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of “Best Song Written For Visual Media” for “Safe Haven”. He’s the rare talent who could seamlessly share the stage with Billy Joel and The Allman Brothers or Maroon 5 and Shania Twain. In 2016, Something Worth Saving incited widespread critical applause from USA Today, Billboard, Entertainment Tonight, and Huffington Post. With a front row seat to this wonderfully wild life led by his late parents Lynne and John Wayne, Gavin DeGraw recounts his most meaningful memories and valuable lessons on his seventh full-length offering, Face The River [RCA Records]. Now, he stitches together a timeless tale of his own soundtracked by a signature fusion of pop, soul, country, folk and funk.

To date, Colbie Caillat has been honored with two GRAMMY® Awards and five nominations and has accumulated more than 15 billion streams. Her debut album COCO hit #5 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and is certified 3x platinum, while her platinum selling follow-up album Breakthrough landed at #1 on the Billboard album chart. Including her breakthrough hit “Bubbly” which is certified 6x platinum her radio career features eight #1 and/or top 10 singles including “Realize”, “Try” and her GRAMMY® Award-winning duet with Jason Mraz “Lucky”. In 2018, Colbie’s country quartet, Gone West, debuted with a performance at the Grand Ole Opry and two years later, reached the top 30 on the Country Airplay charts with their RIAA certified gold single “What Could’ve Been” from the Canyons album.

Her live show is personal and engaging in any setting and she has become an expert storyteller.

Colbie just finished recording a new album in Nashville, Tennessee and is currently set to release the first single in Spring 2023.

Throughout her career, she has been an avowed spokesperson and supporter for ASPCA, the Surfrider Foundation, Save The Music, Farm Sanctuary, and The Humane Society of the United States.
