Dr. Phil Heit | 2009

 

Phil Heit, professor emeritus of physical activity and educational services at the Ohio State University, founded the New Albany Walking Club in 2003 and started the New Albany Walking Classic in 2005, which has grown to become the nation’s largest walking-only race and was named by Walk! Magazine as America’s Best Walking Event. Heit, with support fromthe Foundation, created Healthy New Albany, a volunteer-driven movement and not-for-profit organization to promote a culture of health in the community. He is the namesake of the Philip Heit Center for Healthy New Albany, a holistic health and wellness center offering programs and services provided by Healthy New Albany,  The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
