Cindy & Keith Berend | 2016

Raising two daughters in New Albany helped philanthropists and community advocates Cindy and Keith Berend lead by example on how to give back to help others and also enrich their own lives. The couple’s generous spirit brought an exhibit of first edition books to the New Albany branch library, installed bicycle racks at New Albany High School and brought competitive starting blocks in the school natatorium. Cindy’s volunteerism in the school system helped the couple identify local needs. Keith, an orthopedic surgeon, has provided free hip and knee care in third-world counties through Operation Walk and chaired the Foundation board.  They have been generous and impactful benefactors for mental health programs and services in the community.
