McCoy Award Honorees

Melanie & Michael  DeAscentis | 2019

Community always has been a priority for philanthropists and community advocates Melanie and Michael DeAscentis and their family’s company, Lifestyle Communities.  They demonstrated their commitment to their community when they chose not to benefit from a a lucrative development opportunity because they did not want it to negatively impact New Albany Schools.  Their decision likely prevented the need for a second high school or abandoning the concept of a single school campus.  Beneficiaries of their support include the Homeless Family Foundation, the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts, Church of the Resurrection, The New Albany Community Foundation and a number of veterans organizations.  Mike chaired the Foundation board through launch of the widely acclaimed New Albany Lecture Series.
