Grant Criteria

The New Albany Community Foundation may only award grants to registered 501c3 organizations that impact people within the Greater New Albany Community boundaries. To make the best use of available funds, the Foundation prioritizes meeting most of the following criteria when reviewing application requests:

  • The program/project positively impacts many people in the Greater New Albany Community boundaries, especially in the areas of lifelong learning, the arts, health and wellness and the environment;
  • The proposed program/project will continue and expand beyond the grant period;
  • The support from the Foundation would be vital or important to program/project success but not the sole funding source; 
  • The program/project is a well-planned approach to solving a problem and delivering services innovatively and efficiently;
  • The program/project promotes cooperation among organizations including reduced expenses by sharing resources without duplication of service.

Deadlines for grant application submissions and all required supporting documents are:

    • 5 PM EST on March 15th for April consideration
    • 5 PM EST on September 15th for October consideration

Organizations that have previously been awarded a grant must file a grant follow-up report prior to being eligible to apply for a new grant.

The Foundation does not approve grants to support deficit financing for programs or capital expenditures, endowment funds, religious purposes, annual appeals or membership contributions, conferences, sponsorships, or recognition events. 

The Greater New Albany Community includes the following:  The City of New Albany, the New Albany-Plain Local School District, the New Albany Business Park, and Plain Township.
