Now in its 16th year, The New Albany Walking Classic has been designated as the best walking event in America. The success of The Classic led to the formation of Healthy New Albany. The Foundation worked with health advocate, Dr. Phil Heit, to form a community organization aimed at creating and promoting a culture of health in New Albany. In 2014, the City of New Albany dedicated The Philip Heit Center for Healthy New Albany, offering a state-of-the-art facility for health services in collaboration with The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

“What began as a walking club has blossomed into a movement that is impacting daily life for people of all ages. Achieving and maintaining a high level of well-being is now part of New Albany’s DNA. Healthy New Albany programming is making a difference and it is so gratifying to see supporters come to the table to grow the effort.”
